Fortescue Fact File

Project completion

On Friday 19th July 2008, exactly five years after the Company was formed, Fortescue achieved project completion by exporting two million tonnes of ore in a month.

Achieving Project Completion satisfies certain covenants within Fortescue's financial
arrangements and allows the Company to pursue its stated ambition to expand and
further develop growth projects across the Chichester Ranges.

Coming only eight weeks after the first shipment of ore from the Herb Elliott Port in
Port Hedland, Fortescue Chief Executive Officer Andrew Forrest said it was a
remarkable achievement for all concerned.

"Our success is testament to the Company's enormous potential and future growth
objectives. This sets a great platform for the continuing ramp up of our project to its
initial targeted capacity of 45 million tonnes per annum (mta) which will then be
optimised to 55 mta," Mr Forrest said.
