The business and commercial divisions of Fortescue provide the marketing and customer interface, finance, management and administration services on behalf of the Company. Staff working in these divisions are chosen in part for their ability to see past old thinking and create a true 21st Century company.
Elimination of stifling management-by-systems bureacracy, which leads to reduced creativity and flexibility, is core to the Company's ethos. Fortescue has a policy of ensuring that, in all areas of the Company, from the entry level staff through to the most senior executive level, there are no more than five layers of management. Additionally, all desks are in an open plan environment.
This approach has streamlined communication and insprired innovative decision making, which has led to an industry-leading, efficient and effective organisation.
