NAIDOC Week Deadly Jobs Expo
|
PERTH, Western Australia, 17 July 2012 - Fortescue was proud to support this year’s Aboriginal Workforce Development’s ‘Deadly Jobs Expo’ held at Ashfield Reserve in Perth during NAIDOC Week recently.
The ‘Deadly Jobs Expo’ was part of a wider annual NAIDOC Week event to encourage Aboriginal employment and a greater understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity. NAIDOC Week activities were held all around Australia and Torres Strait Islands during the first week of July.
The Fortescue team manned a stall at the expo where scholarships and traineeships through the Five Star program were promoted, as well as information on Fortescue’s VTEC (Vocational Training and Employment Centre) opportunities for Aboriginal people.
A Fortescue pack containing a fishing rod and tackle box were donated as a second prize in the Deadly Jobs iPad competition. Entrants could answer seven questions about employers attending the expo for their chance to win. Congratulations to Diane Mayrule the prize pack winner, who was said to be extremely happy with her new fishing gear.
