Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) today announced a special milestone grant round for community organisations in the Pilbara, recognising 15 years of working with local communities since the company’s inception.
Fortescue marks a range of key milestones in 2018 including the celebration of the company’s 15th anniversary, 10 years of iron ore exports and the delivery of the company’s one billionth tonne.
In recognition of local communities who have been a part of Fortescue’s journey, grants of up to $10,000 are available for eligible community projects within the council boundaries of the Town of Port Hedland, City of Karratha and Shires of Ashburton and East Pilbara.
Fortescue Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Gaines said Fortescue’s strong connection with local communities across the Pilbara reflected the strong sense of family which is at the core of the company’s values and culture.
“From the outset, it was Fortescue’s vision to ensure the communities in which we operate benefit from our growth and development,” Ms Gaines said.
“We are proud of our contribution to the strength of the State and to Australia’s national economy and the role we are playing in driving real economic and generational change in rural and remote communities.
“Through our grants program and the provision of training, employment and business opportunities, we look forward to continuing to support strong and vibrant communities in the Pilbara.”
Applications close 13 June 2018. For more information, visit http://www.fmgl.com.au or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
