Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) returns to the Boao Forum for Asia this week, marking a decade as a Diamond Sponsor of the prestigious conference.

Hosted on the island province of Hainan in China, the Boao Forum offers a unique environment for high-level dialogue between governments, business, academics and non-government organisations. The theme of this year’s conference ‘An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity’ will provide a strong platform for participants to discuss a range of significant global topics.

FMG Chairman Andrew Forrest AO said the bilateral relationship between China and Australia was vital to both countries’ mutual wellbeing and prosperity.

“FMG is very proud of our longstanding association with the Boao Forum for Asia, and we look forward to sharing ideas to build strong engagement, an aligned future and most importantly, our friendship,” Mr Forrest said.

“It is a pleasure to once again co-host the Australia-China Senior Business Leaders Forum which since its inception has provided a unique platform to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between our two nations.”

FMG Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Gaines said FMG was proud to celebrate a decade of opportunity and growth with China at the Boao Forum.

“This year marks a number of important milestones in our relationship with China as we recognise 10 years since our first shipment of iron ore, approach the delivery of our one billionth tonne and celebrate our 10th year as a Diamond Sponsor of the Boao Forum for Asia,” Ms Gaines said.

“As a major supplier of iron ore with the majority of our customers in China, we remain confident in the growth prospects and long-term fundamentals of the Chinese economy. We look forward to contributing to Asian regional prosperity and China’s continued industrialisation and urbanisation for decades to come.”
